Catholic Charities USA applauds the Senate’s passage of H.R. 6644, the Housing for the 21st Century Act, as amended, and urges the House to expeditiously consider this truly bipartisan legislation, which has the potential to improve the lives of so many of our fellow citizens.
The Housing for the 21st Century Act recognizes that the United States faces a significant housing supply shortage that has contributed to rising rents and home prices. All of God’s children deserve a safe, decent, affordable place to call home and this legislation is an important next step in providing that assurance.
