CCUSA, USCCB call for humanitarian assistance for migrants, refugees
Alexandria, Va. – As Congress considers the president’s Fiscal Year 2022 emergency supplemental funding request from April 28, 2022, Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration delivered a unified message to policymakers. The two groups expressed strong support for additional humanitarian assistance for Ukrainian refugees, including access to employment services, health care and language services, which would better ensure their chances of thriving upon arrival in the United States. CCUSA and the Bishops Conference are also united in support of legislation to streamline the process allowing both Ukrainians and recent Afghan arrivals to pursue permanent, legal status in this country.
