CCUSA, others comment on Global Compact on Refugees and Migration
April 4, 2018
Several Catholic partners have joined in a statement commending the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for his able leadership in developing the latest draft for the Global Compact on Refugees. In the statement, Catholic Charities USA and the other partners, made recommendations to support and strengthen the compact, including addressing the root causes of forced migration; focusing on solutions for those most at risk (unaccompanied children, women, and victims of human trafficking); promoting a theme of hope that illustrates the courage and fortitude of refugees; and fostering the catalytic role of faith-based groups that accompany refugees at every stage of their journeys.
