Every person has dignity, every person deserves care

April 8, 2020

The National Catholic Partnership on Disability released a resource called “Rights of Persons with Disabilities to Medical Treatment During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

The document quotes the U.S. Bishops’ statement on Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services:

“[T]his is the foundation of its concern to respect the sacredness of every human life from the moment of conception until death. The first right of the human person, the right to life, entails a right to the means for the proper development of life, such as adequate health care.”

Our brothers and sisters who have disabilities deserve the same access to care as we all do, during a pandemic or under normal circumstances.
