Building trust

January 12, 2018

Chris and Gus have been matched since October of 2014 through T.E.A.M. (Together Engaging Adolescents through Mentoring), a program of Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Boston. Chris is a Quality Assurance Manager at Sokolove Law, LLC. He became a mentor because he wants to help youth grow and utilize the amazing potential they have through new and unique experiences. Gus is a 15-year-old boy who got involved with T.E.A.M. because he wanted a mentor to learn from and to do fun things with.

Throughout their first year of being matched, the pair has grown significantly. They worked on establishing a trusting relationship by being reliable for and open with one another. As their relationship grew both Chris and Gus began to feel more connected and comfortable with each other. Gus began to open up more and participate in more of the planning of activities.

Presently the pair continues to meet on a weekly basis and maintains their strong bond. They have shared numerous experiences together, and the relationship has enriched both of their lives. Together they have visited places such as the Tedy Bruschi football clinic and the Science Museum. They also attended a Celtics game where they were able to sit courtside, front and center.

Chris and Gus plan on staying matched via T.E.A.M. and intend to continue being a significant part of each other’s life.
