Uplifting Parents program a hand up out of poverty

November 14, 2018

Two years ago Hollee Hook faced a mid-life career change and loss of income while grieving the death of her longtime partner and raising her 13-year-old son by herself.

Thanks to the Uplifting Parents (UP) program at Catholic Social Services, Hollee has a new career in surgical technology and a job she loves.

“I was trying to stay out of poverty, and UP absolutely helped me do that,” she said. UP helps low-income single parents who are in the last two years of earning a college degree.
