U.S. Catholic community supports robust use of TPS

Alexandria, Va. – In a letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of State, U.S. Catholic leaders expressed gratitude for several recent country designations for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and called for the same status for additional countries that are experiencing armed conflict, environmental disasters and other dangerous conditions. Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Migration, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) appreciate the designations of Ukraine, Afghanistan and Cameroon for TPS as well as the recently announced extension of TPS for Venezuela. They are also asking for the extension and redesignation of Syria for TPS and that the Administration continue to use TPS fully.

The letter can be read in its entirety on CCUSA’s advocacy page.
