Alexandria, Va. – In reaction to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia and the most recent statements by the President of the United States, Catholic Charities USA states unequivocally that we stand in solidarity with the US Catholic Bishops decrying racism as a sin and a radical evil. Catholic Charities USA expresses our ongoing commitment to fight against bigotry and hatred of any kind. We remember those who even today sacrifice and face the horrible realities of racism, white supremacy and neo-Nazism. We pray for the softening and conversion of hardened hearts and the healing of wounds that racism in our communities continues to perpetuate. As Catholic Charities we stand ready to open our doors each day to welcome and care for friends and strangers in need of protection, love and support.

In Solidarity,

Sister Donna Markham OP, PhD
President and CEO
