August 9, 2022

Alexandria, Va. — For the seventh year in a row, Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) President and CEO, Sister Donna Markham, OP, PhD, was recognized by The NonProfit Times (NPT) in its Power & Influence Top 50 leaders for 2022.

Paul Cholery, NPT vice president and editorial director, wrote, “A lot of social sector people talk but Markham has actually seen the situations upon which she opines and takes action, like going to the border. She asked her 58,000 associates for challenges they are seeing. Given the responses, she is turning a $4.5 billion behemoth toward housing and healthcare, particularly seeing housing as a moral imperative and partnering with anyone willing to pitch in.”

This year’s honorees were selected for having distinguished themselves as initiators, innovators and leaders during the previous 12 months. They were narrowed down from roughly 300 top nonprofit executives by a committee that included NPT editorial staff and contributors.

In 2021, the Catholic Charities’ nationwide network provided essential services to more than 15 million people. To learn more, please visit www.CatholicCharitiesUSA.org
