CCUSA responds to administration’s decision to end Title 42

(Alexandria, Va.) – Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) issued the following statement in response to the administration’s decision to end Title 42, the emergency rule authorizing U.S. immigration authorities to expel migrants and asylum-seekers:

“While Catholic Charities USA appreciates the administration’s decision to end Title 42, we encourage officials to implement the change in an orderly and collaborative manner with Catholic Charities agencies and other organizations that provide humanitarian care and respite services to migrants.

“With the expected influx of this vulnerable population, coordination and communication are critical. We must mitigate the impact on both humanitarian agencies and receiving communities and uphold the dignity of individuals and families who have entered the country and subsequently been processed by the federal government.”

Advocacy & Social Policy Initiatives

CCUSA's Advocacy and Social Policy team advocates for policies that uphold human dignity and promote integral human development. Informed by the experience of local Catholic Charities agencies, the team urges policy makers to encounter the needy and vulnerable in their communities and to create policies which assist and support them.
