Summary Description: The Director for Policy Research and Analysis supports the Catholic Charities USA Government Relations Team by researching and providing analysis to policy issues and recommendations to substantiate and inform CCUSA’s portfolio of policy priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze information from a variety of sources, including Congressional hearings and press releases, budget documents, non-profit and human services partners, media and other stakeholders, and offer fact checking as needed.
  • Identify issues of potential impact to the network and collect feedback from network agencies on potential policy implications.
  • Prepare, issue research, statistical briefings and memos & recommend responses to substantiate policy positions.
  • Monitor key policy issues and emerging policy trends and opportunities to generate applicable research content, communications and data.
  • Develop subject matter expertise and provide internal briefing materials on key issue areas.
  • Prepare recommended responses and strategies to potential issues of impact.
  • Monitor emerging policy trends that relate to the government relations team policy portfolios.
  • Prepare forward facing and internal summary and briefing documents to support the work of the government relations team.
  • Perform special analyses as requested by agency leadership.

Education & Experience:   

  • BS/BA (or equivalent experience) in Political Science or similar field
  • Graduate degree in Political Science, or JD preferred
  • Five years of experience in a non-profit, association or related fields required,

 Work Environment:

  • This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and repetitive lifting of minimal weight.
