CCUSA, other Catholic organizations offer guiding principles on Farm Bill to Congressional leadership

Catholic Charities USA, along with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Rural Life and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, reaffirmed their commitment to ending hunger in a letter to Congressional leaders.

The letter encourages leadership, as they proceed with the 2023 Farm Bill, to:

    • Prioritize sufficient funding of programs that feed hungry families, both here and abroad, while opposing efforts to weaken the efficacy of or access to these programs.
    • Provide a safety net for farmers and continue a reasonable amount of support for commodity and dairy farmers, prioritizing vulnerable farmers and small and moderate-sized family farms.
    • Help rural communities by encouraging rural development and promoting the culture and well-being of rural America.
    • Promote sustainable stewardship of the land.
