CCUSA supports budget agreement provisions that help most vulnerable

March 11, 2022

Catholic Charities USA issued the following statement about the passage of FY 2022 omnibus appropriations legislation.

Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) welcomes Congress’s agreement on the Fiscal Year 2022 omnibus appropriations legislation. Although the government funding bill does not address all of our concerns and priorities, we support, in particular, provisions that reflect our values and mission to uphold the dignity of all life, especially the most vulnerable among us. This includes ongoing support for programs that address the national crises of affordable housing, food security, immigration, and mental, behavioral and maternal health; and continued funding for the Hyde, Helms and Weldon Amendments, which prevent tax dollars from funding abortion services and offer protection to workers who refuse to participate in abortion based on the call of their conscience. We also commend Congress for its quick work to appropriate humanitarian dollars for the fast-developing refugee crisis in Ukraine.
