Catholic Charities USA joins amicus brief in support of DACA recipients and the case before the Supreme Court

Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) joined an amicus brief in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and the case before the Supreme Court. The Court will determine in part whether the Administration’s rescission of DACA was lawful.

As CCUSA previously urged the Administration, we believe the dignity of every human being particularly that of our children, must be protected. An estimated 800,000 young people have received and benefitted from the DACA program. Loving parents brought these young people to the United States with a focus on providing their children with the hope, opportunity, and safety unavailable in their countries of birth. Their stories are woven into our collective American identity as a nation of immigrants. They are veterans of our military, academic scholars in our universities, leaders in parishes and communities, and above all, our human brothers and sisters. We remain hopeful the Supreme Court’s ruling will benefit DACA recipients.

Advocacy & Social Policy Initiatives

CCUSA's Advocacy and Social Policy team advocates for policies that uphold human dignity and promote integral human development. Informed by the experience of local Catholic Charities agencies, the team urges policy makers to encounter the needy and vulnerable in their communities and to create policies which assist and support them.
