Cathy Peterson, a thirty-five year veteran of Catholic Charities Community Services in the Diocese of Phoenix, invites readers today to pray with her this beautiful prayer she composed for all of us called by grace to imitate the Good Samaritan:

    Loving God,

We come to you with hearts full of gratitude
    and love for one another.

    Help us to be still
and take the time to hear your voice.

Help us to follow your word
    and be good Samaritans
    for each person we encounter.

Help us to have open ears, hearts and minds
so that we can be your hands and feet here on earth.

We know that when we listen to you
    and follow you,
we find peace in your presence.

    The world needs you,
    and we need you, God.

Thank you for the ability to be faithful.

    Amen.
