God of mercy and peace, you created us in your image, forming one human family. You love all your children without discrimination and invite us to love each of our neighbors as ourselves. In hope, we lift up to you for healing the tensions and racism that plague our nation and pray for increasing harmony and peace within our communities, and in our hearts. Amen.

Psalm 85:9-14

R. El Señor habla de paz a su pueblo.

Escucharé lo que Dios, Yahveh, tiene que decir; seguramente hablará de paz a su pueblo y a sus fieles. ¡Que no se vuelvan locos! Cercana está su salvación para los que le temen; la gloria habitará en nuestra tierra. R.

El amor y la verdad se encontrarán; la justicia y la paz se besarán. La verdad brotará de la tierra; la justicia mirará desde el cielo. R.

Sí, Yahveh concederá su generosidad; nuestra tierra dará sus frutos. La justicia marchará delante de él y abrirá camino a sus pasos. R.

Colosenses 3:12-15

Revestíos, pues, como escogidos de Dios, santos y amados, de entrañable compasión, bondad, humildad, mansedumbre y paciencia, soportándoos unos a otros y perdonándoos mutuamente si alguno tuviere queja contra otro; como el Señor os perdonó, así también haced vosotros. Y sobre todo esto revestíos de amor, es decir, del vínculo de la perfección. Y que la paz de Cristo domine vuestros corazones, paz a la que también fuisteis llamados en un solo cuerpo. Y sed agradecidos.

Dios es el autor de la paz, y bendice a todos los que trabajan por la paz. Elevemos ahora oraciones por la paz, diciendo:

R: Author of Peace, hear our prayer.

For an end to the violence perpetrated by harsh words, deadly weapons, or cold indifference. May our homes, our nation, and countries around the world become havens of peace, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For the grace to see every human being as a child of God, regardless of race, language or culture, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For healing and justice for all those who have experienced violence and racism, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For the protection of all police and first responders who risk their lives daily to ensure our safety; for fair and just policing that will promote peace and wellbeing in all our neighborhoods, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For our public officials, that they will strive to work for fair education, adequate housing, and equal opportunities for employment for all, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For our agency, that we may cultivate welcome, extend hospitality, and encourage the participation of people of all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For the courage to have difficult conversations about racism, and for a better appreciation of how our words and actions – or even our silence – can impact our communities, let us pray to the Lord: R.

For solidarity in our global human family, that we may work together to protect those who are most vulnerable and most in need, let us pray to the Lord: R.
