Do you have an idea for a social enterprise, but need support to develop it from a concept to a business? Apply for CCUSA’s new Social Enterprise Startup Lab

Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) has partnered with the Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) to provide a 4-day intensive program to help member agencies develop sustainable social enterprise business models from concept to launch. Whether all you have is an idea, or you’ve already got an early-stage enterprise up and running, this 4-day workshop will take Catholic Charities staff through the process of building a business — validating your concept and value proposition, proving your business model, gaining customer insights, and developing your budget and cost assumptions.  The Lab will be held June 25 through the 28th @ the Social Enterprise Alliance headquarters in Nashville, TN. CCUSA Partners in Excellence – San Antonio, Texas, May 23-24, 2018 & Garden Grove, Calif., June 4-5, 2018

Gather with your peers for prayer and fellowship, to network and learn together, and to explore successes and challenges in our shared ministry. You will be able to engage with agency staff, board members, parish social ministers and volunteers from across the state for two days filled with opportunities to connect with your Catholic Charities colleagues, explore our Catholic Identity, and learn from national staff through practical application. The First Steps of Implementing a 2Generation Approach

Building upon the first two webinars, Shelley Waters Boots will guide participants through the first steps of implementing a two-generation approach to addressing poverty in this third and final webinar of the series. Webinar Regarding the Issues of Affordable Housing and Disasters

The CCUSA Strategic Priorities of Housing and Disaster are hosting a webinar to initiate a network-wide dialogue regarding the issues of affordable housing and disasters on May 2, 2018, at 3:00 PM EDT. This webinar synthesizes the results of network-wide listening sessions involving 20 local CC agencies throughout the network sharing their experiences and challenges on this critical topic. Webinar host facilitators are Zach Cahalan, Disaster Strategic Director, and Curtis Johnson, Senior Director Housing Strategy who will be joined by additional agencies as well as the Debra Susie, Disaster Housing Recovery Coordinator at the National Low Income Housing Coalition. Seed Grants Available for the Creation or Expansion of Supportive Services to Grandparents and Other Relatives Raising Children

The Brookdale Foundation Group has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the creation or expansion of supportive services to grandparents and other relatives raising children. Up to 15 programs will be selected to receive a seed grant of $15,000 ($10,000 and $5,000 respectively), contingent upon progress made during year one and potential for continuity in the future. On-going technical assistance will also be provided. Any 501 (c)(3) or equivalent not-for-profit organizations can apply. The RFP proposal and guidelines can be downloaded by visiting our website. Proposals are due at the Brookdale Foundation Group office in New Jersey on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Selected applicants will be required to attend an Orientation and Training Conference, as our guests, to be held October 25-27, 2018 in Teaneck, NJ.

Apply for Funding for Mental Health First Aid

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently released two funding announcements totaling almost $59 million to fund Mental Health First Aid projects. We encourage eligible organizations to submit applications. We want to draw your attention to the fact that Mental Health First Aid has updated curricula that responds to the national opioid epidemic by teaching people how to identify and respond to people in need. Learn how to use this opportunity to get funding for your Mental Health First Aid program. (1.) Mental Health Awareness Training Grants. Due June 8, 2018. CCFW is looking for a 501(c)(3) social service organization to replicate their proven intervention, Stay the CourseTM

Grant Opportunity – CCUSA Peer Navigator AmeriCorps Program

CCUSA is currently looking for additional grantees for the Peer Navigator AmeriCorps program. This direct service program has veterans or veteran family members serve as Peer Navigators, helping for other veterans and their family members. Through this peer support, the AmeriCorps members assist with case management, access to benefits, referral to services, and much more. If your agency is interested in hosting an AmeriCorps member to serve veterans in your community, please reach out to Sarah Hendley, who can provide details on the program including the necessary match.

Rural Internet Supported, Department of Agriculture

The Community Connect Grant Program supports efforts to provide broadband Internet in rural, economically-challenged communities where broadband service does not currently exist. The application deadline is May 14, 2018. More information here.

Program Funds Child Care Businesses for Refugees, Administration for Children and Families

The Refugee Family Child Care Microenterprise Development Program supports efforts to provide refugee participants with training and technical assistance in professional child care, microenterprise development, and financial literacy in order to enable participants to prepare their homes for a child care business operation. Family Literacy Programs Funded – Wish You Well Foundation 

The Wish You Well Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that promote family literacy in the United States. The focus of the Foundation is on the development and expansion of new and existing literacy and educational programs. Grants generally range from $2,000 to $10,000. Requests may be submitted at any time and are reviewed by the Foundation’s Board on a rolling basis.
