Catholic Charities agencies are multi-service nonprofit organizations guided by Catholic social and moral teaching. Successful Catholic Charities leadership requires both executive expertise and grounding in Catholic principles. This year, Catholic Charities USA offers three opportunities for agency directors, senior staff and emerging leaders to grow their leadership skills within this context, both for their personal and professional development and to further the mission of Catholic Charities.
O’Grady Advanced Leadership Institute (2.0): May 2023
The Institute offers an in-depth consideration of the Catholic teachings that undergird Catholic Charities services, how Catholic moral methodologies can shape strategic planning, and other subjects essential for effective leadership of a Catholic organization operating within an ethnically diverse and religiously pluralistic culture. It is designed for Catholic Charities agency directors, other senior leaders and those who have completed the foundational (1.0) O’Grady Leadership Institute (either virtually or in-person). It will be held from May 8–12, 2023, at Catholic Charities USA’s O’Grady Conference Center in Alexandria, VA. Registration will open in early 2023.
Virtual O’Grady Leadership Institute (1.0): June 2023
This program is intended exclusively for Catholic Charities professionals and is presented by experts at Catholic Charities USA. It offers a unique opportunity to gain a foundational understanding of the knowledge and skills essential for effective Catholic Charities leadership and integrates leadership and management with theology and spirituality. Participants will explore Catholic social and moral teaching, ethical decision-making, public policy and the Church, racism and poverty, and how to understand one’s leadership role within a system. The program will be offered June 22–23 and June 26–28, 2023. Registration will open in early 2023.
Professional Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Management: Registration Open
Offered in partnership with the University of San Diego, the program is tailored to the values and unique needs of Catholic Charities agency executive directors and is intended to enhance their management capabilities and support strategic priorities and service areas specific to Catholic Charities. Through a blend of asynchronous work and synchronous interactions with fellow participants and faculty, the program will be primarily online, with an in-person capstone experience at the end. The tuition is 100% funded by the Healey Family Foundation. Participation is restricted to Catholic Charities agency executive directors or a single senior-level designate. Click here to register.
