Alexandria, Virginia (January 18, 2016) — Five individuals with a history of working on the front lines for justice and opportunity for all will be recognized with the national “Keep the Dream Alive Honors” from Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) in appreciation for their lifelong commitment and service.
“I am pleased to help Catholic Charities agencies recognize individuals in their communities who have demonstrated a history of consistent leadership in advancing racial and social justice,” said Sister Donna Markham, OP, PhD, President & CEO of Catholic Charities USA. “I continue to be humbled to walk among the many dedicated people who support our ministry and make the Gospel come alive through their care for those in need.”
The “Keep the Dream Alive Honors” is presented to individuals who have lived out a passionate commitment to making the dream of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a reality, creating a society in which every individual is not “judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
The recipients of the 2016 “Catholic Charities Keep the Dream Alive Honors” are:
- Mary Jordan, Program Manager of Genesis House (Nominated by Catholic Charities of West Tennessee)
- Richard Louge, Director of Caring for Immigrants and Refugees (Nominated by Catholic Charities of Central Florida)
- Martina O’Sullivan, Board Member (Nominated by Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey)
- Jeanetta Warren, Project Manager of Atlantic City Crisis Committee (Nominated by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Camden)
- Deacon Charles Williams, Diocese of Richmond (Nominated by Commonwealth Catholic Charities)
These individuals were identified by our member agencies, in recognition of their local work.
