In September 2022, for the first time in 50 years, the WH will be holding a conference to drive solutions to the challenges of hunger, food insecurity, nutrition, and nutrition-related disease. There, the Biden administration will announce a strategy to “end hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030.” The conference includes a specific focus on eliminating health disparities and the disproportionate impact that food insecurity has on communities of color, rural communities, people with disabilities, older adults, LGBTQI+ people, military families, and veterans.

In preparation, CCUSA is holding two listening sessions to capture your voices and ideas. Our feedback will inform their policy agenda. Please come prepared to discuss the following questions:

• What actions should the U.S. Federal government take to achieve each pillar? What are the opportunities/barriers to achieving the actions? Actions should include specific policy, programmatic modifications, and funding needs.
• What actions should local, state, territory, and Tribal governments; private sector; nonprofit and community groups; and others need to take?
• What are the opportunities for public and private-sector partners to work together to achieve each pillar?
• What are innovative, successful activities already happening at the local, state, territory, and Tribal levels that could inform actions at the Federal level?

Please note, the CCUSA will focus on the first two pillars: 1) Improve Food Access and Affordability; and 2) Integrate Health and Nutrition.
