Ever cognizant that poverty does not occur in a vacuum, CCUSA highlights the linkages between social issues that are related to and contribute to the growing crisis of poverty in our nation.
We work closely with our agencies to implement programs related to social issues that include;
Care for the earth is not just an Earth Day slogan; it is a requirement of our faith. We are called to protect people and the planet and to live our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation.
In keeping with the teachings of the Church, CCUSA upholds the belief in the dignity of every human being and the right to a dignified life, free from violence and fear, including access to food, clothing, and shelter. Trafficking violates these fundamental beliefs.
Catholic Charities agencies serve individuals and families who struggle with the combined, and often inseparable, ills of racism and poverty. Racism is both a cause of poverty and a barrier for those seeking to escape poverty. In order to effectively reduce poverty, we must be agents of racial justice.
