“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
—Mother Teresa
More than 300,000 volunteers of all faiths across the country enable the Catholic Charities network to more efficiently and effectively serve over 10 million people of diverse faiths and needs every year.
Whether responding to disasters or serving as mentors, food bank workers, or senior citizen companions, volunteers are giving the most important gift to those in need—selfless service.

CCUSA’s Volunteer of the Year Award
This annual award is presented to a Catholic Charities network volunteer who exemplifies the spirit of Catholic Charities by fulfilling our mission: to provide service to people in need, advocate for justice in social structures, and call the entire church and other people of good will to do the same.
The ideal candidate embodies the tenets of our Campaign to Reduce Poverty, empowers clients through holistic approaches and works towards innovative solutions in areas such as asset development, family strengthening and social enterprise.
Nominate up to three of your own agency’s volunteers or resubmit a past nomination for consideration. Submissions are due by Friday, March 22, 2013 and require a high-resolution headshot.
Finalists will be announced the week of April 8 and the winner will be announced on Thursday, April 25.

First given out in 1998, Catholic Charities USA’s National Volunteer of the Year Award officially and publicly recognizes the invaluable contributions volunteers make to Catholic Charities. It also thanks the network’s volunteers who have answered God’s call by providing countless hours and boundless energy to help people in need. The award provides the national service center a forum to showcase the contributions of volunteers.
