Patti LaBelle and Denyce Graves
Centennial Gala Concert

A new day for the future of our country!

Join us Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the Hilton Washington for a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate Catholic Charities USA's 100 years of service, advocacy, and convening with two prominent women in the history of American music.

R&B superstar and Grammy Award Winner Patti LaBelle is well known for her high energy hits such as "New Attitude" and "Lady Marmalade."

Internationally-acclaimed mezzo soprano Denyce Graves delights audiences with her incredible vocal ability. A classically trained opera singer, she is also a celebrated entertainer in the genres of pop and jazz.

At the Centennial Gala Concert, our stars will perform together and separately, accompanied by the students from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Ms. Graves' alma mater.

Catholic Charities USA's Centennial Gala Concert brings together two amazing artists who last performed together in 2009 at a concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of Marian Anderson's historic performance in Washington, DC. Marian Anderson was the first black woman to sing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Denyce Graves credits Ms. Anderson as her inspiration to become a performer.

Catholic Charities USA welcomes our MC for the evening, Maureen Bunyan, veteran television news broadcaster and a primary anchor for ABC7/WJLA-TV. Ms. Bunyan has an extensive record of service to the community. She is a founder and board member of the International Women’s Media Foundation, which serves women in the media in 100 countries.
