  • Francis Cardinal George
    President of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops

    Cardinal George will celebrate the opening liturgy at 2pm at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
  • Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl
    Archdiocese of Washington, DC

    Archbishop Wuerl will also participate in the opening liturgy at 2pm at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

  • Rev. Larry Snyder
    President, Catholic Charities USA

    39.8 million Americans struggle in poverty each year. In 2009, local Catholic Charities agencies served over 9 million people.  It is a tragedy that poverty continues to increase in the United States, now one of the wealthiest nations in the world. As the leader of our nation's largest networks of social service providers, Fr. Snyder understands poverty. Fr. Snyder has spent the past year travelling across the country, engaging local communities in our fight for justice. At our final Centennial Leadership Summit, Fr. Snyder will deliver a moving keynote address on Poverty Today: A Moral Threat to the Common Good.
  • Norah O'Donnell
    White House Correspondent, MSNBC
    Ms. O'Donnell, an award-winning journalist, is Chief Washington Correspondent with MSNBC and serves as a contributing correspondent for NBC's top-rated "TODAY." O’Donnell has covered a number of breaking news stories for all of NBC News’ broadcasts, including the top-rated “Nightly News with Brian Williams." Meet Ms. O'Donnell at our Centennial Leadesrhip Summit. Ms. O'Donnell will serve as our thought-leader on the national response to poverty reduction with insight provided by Fr. J. Bryan Hehir, Janet Lawson, and Dr. Regina Benjamin, Surgeon General (invited).
  • Father J. Bryan Hehir
    Professor, Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University
    Secretary, Health and Social Services for the Archdiocese of Boston

    J. Bryan Hehir is the Parker Gilbert Montgomery Professor of the Practice of Religion and Public Life at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is also the Secretary for Health and Social Services for the Archdiocese of Boston. Prior to assuming these positions, Father Hehir served as President and CEO of Catholic Charities USA from 2001 to 2003. He taught for several years at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and Kennedy Institute in Ethics as well as at the Harvard Divinity School. He also spent nearly twenty years working at the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.
  • Janet Lawson
    Director, Ford Volunteer Corps

    Ford Volunteer Corps is part of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company. Ms. Lawson is member of Catholic Charities USA's Board of Trustees.
  • Candy S. Hill
    Senior Vice President, Social Policy and Government Affairs, Catholic Charities USA
     
    Since 2005, Ms. Hill has been responsible for directing Catholic Charities USA's federal advocacy efforts. representing Catholic Charities USA on Capitol Hill and with the administration, and serving as the organization’s spokesperson on social policy. Ms. Hill will provide insight on how to transform conversation into action and connect service to national legislation.
  • Anna Babin
    President and CEO, United Way of Houston, Houston, TX

    Anna Babin assumed responsibilities as President of the United Way of Greater Houston on August 31, 2005, a date that marked the arrival of Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Houston and quickly demonstrated her capable leadership. Ms. Babin blends business acumen with a wealth of social service expertise. This unique mix of skill and experience proved invaluable in United Way’s comprehensive social service response to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike. A respected community leader, Babin is able to convene corporate, nonprofit and public sectors to address key community issues.
  • Tiziana Dearing
    President, Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Boston
    The first woman to serve as the chief executive in Boston, Ms. Dearing is responsible for the leadership and operation of a $40 million social service agency, serving nearly 200,000 of the Commonwealth’s poor and marginalized per year. Prior to joining Catholic Charities, Ms. Dearing was Executive Director of the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Harvard University. In that capacity, Ms. Dearing managed the organization’s operations, as well as writing, speaking, and doing research on nonprofit organizations and civil society.
  • Ed Orzechowski
    President & CEO, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Washington, Washington, DC

    Led by Edward J. Orzechowski, Catholic Charities is the largest private social service organization in the Washington, D.C. area. Catholic Charities brings together the expertise of four outstanding social service agencies with deep roots in the community: Catholic Charities, Anchor Mental Health, the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Institute for people with developmental disabilities, and the Spanish Catholic Center.
  • Msgr. Kevin Sullivan
    Executive Director, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New York, New York, NY

    Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, a federation of more than 90 human service agencies, provides help and creates hope for hundreds of thousands of in need throughout ten counties of the New York metropolitan area. Monsignor Kevin Sullivan was appointed Executive Director in 2001 after serving as Chief Operating Officer for five years, and in other leadership positions for more than 15 years. He represents Catholic Charities in public policy discussions around issues such as immigration, welfare reform, job development, and foster care. After the 9/11 attacks, Monsignor Sullivan led the coordinated assistance to victims by New York charities as Chair of the 9/11 United Services Group. He is the Vice Chair of the Human Services Council of New York City and served as Chair of its Disaster Preparedness Division.
  • Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan
    Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan will set the tone for the future with wisdom from the past. He will share his doctoral work focused on the work of Monsignor William Kerby, pioneer of the Catholic Charities Movement. Archbishop Dolan has been known to break out into song during presentations and punctuates his remarks with delightful humor.

  • Diana Aviv
    President and CEO, Independent Sector

    Independent Sector, the national leadership forum for America’s nonprofit organizations, foundations, and corporations, works to advance the common good by leading, strengthening, and mobilizing the independent sector. Ms. Aviv is a frequent speaker on emerging trends within the sector, the financial state of the nonprofit community, public policies affecting charities and foundations, the role of civil society in democracy, and civic engagement.  Meet Ms. Aviv at the Management and Administration Professional Interest Learning Lab.
  • Mr. Pablo Gato
    Strategic Implementation Advisor, Banca Civica, Washington, DC

    With newly opened operations in the United States, Banca Civica is a Spanish civic bank that encourages its customers to make the most out of their money by investing in socially innovative projects in the community. Mr. Gato is one of the most well-known and respected journalists in Hispanic households throughout the United States and Latin America. Prior to coming to Banca Civica, he worked as reporter with NBC, CBS, CNN and Telemundo. He will offer a thoughtful perspective on how Catholic Charities agencies can better position themselves in proactive and collaborative roles in both their communications and development work.   • Holly Hall
    Features Editor, Chronicle of Philanthropy, Washington, DC

    Holly Hall has been covering fund raising and related issues for more than two decades. She writes about such topics as how fund raising is affected by economic cycles, efforts to raise money internationally, unethical fund-raising practices, career pressures faced by fund raisers, and the fund-raising strategies of top-performing charities. She also covers issues related to philanthropy by and for women, nonprofit leadership tactics to weather tough times, the transfer of wealth, and other demographic issues facing nonprofit organizations.Meet Ms. Hall at the Development and Communications Professional Interest Learning Lab.
  • Andrés Cavelier
    President and Founder, FastrackMedia

    Andrés Cavelier is president and founder of FastrackMedia, a Washington, DC-based digital content strategy and social media marketing consulting firm. He specializes in helping companies and organizations engage with their audiences via interactive communication tools. Mr. Cavelier was a 2008 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Prior to becoming a consultant, he worked as print, television and online journalist for leading news organizations in the United States and Latin America.   • Rev. Gregory Boyle
    Executive Director, Homeboy Industries, Los Angeles, CA

    Homeboy Industries assists at-risk and formerly gang-involved youth to become positive and contributing members of society through job placement, training and education. Fr. Boyle will present on "Being a Gospel People Today" with a respondent from the Catholic Charities network. The power of Fr. Boyle's stories and the deeply Ignation desire to see Christ in all things, especially the gang members in his community, will simultaneously motivate and reground us in the mission of Christ.   • Ms. Doris W. Koo
    President and Chief Executive Officer, Enterprise Community Partners, Columbia, MD
    Doris W. Koo is a nationally respected leader with nearly 30 years of experience in affordable housing and community development. Ms. Koo also serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Community Loan Fund and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Enterprise Community Partners and the Board of Directors of Enterprise Community Investment.   • Mark Shields
    Washington Post syndicated columnist and political analyst

    Sheilds is the sparring partner of NY Times’ David Brook on the award winning PBS show, The News Hour. The Washington Post has called Shields “a walking almanac of American politics.” His insights prove to be up-to-the minute covering and savoring the country and its politics. He will deliver a thought-provoking lunch-time keynote address.

Throughout her career, Ms. Kondracke has been both an entrepreneur and a public servant, focusing on the needs of children and families.   • Ms. Andrea Levere
    President, CFED, Washington, DC
    CFED is a multi-faceted organization working at the local, state and federal levels to create economic opportunity that alleviates poverty. Through Ms. Levere's vision and leadership, CFED designs and operates major national initiatives that aim to expand matched savings for children and youth, bring self-employed entrepreneurs into the financial mainstream and turn manufactured housing into an appreciating asset.   • Maria Odom
    Executive Director, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.
     
    Maria Odom is an experienced immigration attorney who works to keep immigrants and their families together as well as to reunify those who have suffered the consequences of deportation and stricter immigration laws. Ms. Odom’s legal career began in the late 1990s at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she initially served as an Honors Program Judicial Law Clerk and later as an Assistant District Counsel for the legacy U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. After her government service, Ms. Odom established and developed a successful private practice with a focus on removal defense and immigration litigation.   • Sr. Carol Keehan
    President, Catholic Health Association

    A passionate voice for compassionate care, the Catholic Health Association stands with the poor and disenfranchised and advocates for services and solutions that reflect dignity and respect for all people. CHA is the largest group of non-profit health care providers in the nation. Sister Carol Keehan, DC, the ninth president and chief executive officer, assumed her duties in October 2005. Sister Carol has worked in administrative and governance positions at hospitals sponsored by the Daughters of Charity for more than 35 years.   • David Beckmann
    President, Bread for the World

    David Beckmann is one of the foremost US advocates for hungry and poor people.
