2009 Family Strengthening Site Visits
Learn more about the winning agencies!Each year, Catholic Charities USA sponsors two-day site visits to each of the Catholic Charities USA/Annie E. Casey Foundation Family Strengthening Awardees. The site visits are open to employees and board members of local Catholic Charities agencies or other member agencies in good standing. The site visits provide an opportunity to see the programs first hand, meet with staff, program participants and advisory committee members to learn how these initiatives reflect the core components of family strengthening. The characteristics of Family Strengthening Practice include: - Working with parents as partners
- Services are located in the communities where families live
- Family receive support in a range of areas, from child development and parenting to financial literacy and job development
- Staffs help families build a web of formal and informal supports to sustain them through good and bad times
About the 2009 Winning AgenciesThis year, Catholic Charities USA is very fortunate to be able to recognize three programs which reflect diverse communities and integrate a varying array of services to support the families they serve: 2009 Site VisitsEach site visit will accommodate up to 9 staff from the larger Catholic Charities USA network. Catholic Charities USA supports each participant with up to $800 to cover their costs related to the site visits. Agencies requesting to participate in a site visit are limited to one stipend per agency. The dates for the upcoming site visits are as follows: - El Centro Family Center

Each site visit will begin with dinner and a welcome and overview at 6:30 p.m., on the evening of the start date. All site visits will end no later than 4:00 p.m. It is anticipated that if a participant is accepted to receive the stipend for the site visit that they will plan to attend for the entire time. Participation is limited to staff and board members of agencies in good standing. We request that staff participating in the site visits have responsibilities of program management or higher.
