First Quarter 2010 Snapshot Survey: Social Services on the Edge
Across the country, local Catholic Charities agencies, on the frontlines during this economic crisis, continue to struggle to meet the increased needs of individuals and working families. Waiting lists are growing, agency staff are distressed and discouraged, and food vouchers are disappearing. Scarce and dwindling revenue sources from state/federal government, individuals, and corporations threaten programs, services, and staff. Social services are on the edge, wondering how they will continue to be able to serve their communities.

Fourth Quarter 2009 Snapshot Survey: Emergency services on the line as financial crisis continues
The survey reveals a huge need across the country for life-sustaining emergency services – food, shelter, warmth. Requests continue to increase from the working poor and families, many who are coming to Catholic Charities for the first time and as a last resort.

Third Quarter 2009 Snapshot Survey: Pantry shelves empty faster than ever
The survey reveals unprecedented levels of hunger -- with huge demands for food services and continued strain on mental health counseling and domestic violence services. The survey provides first-hand data and trends from the frontlines of social service during the current brutal economic recession.

Catholic Charities Network At a Glance
Working to reduce poverty, promote human dignity, support families, and empower communities, Catholic Charities across the nation provided help and created hope for 9,164,981 (unduplicated) people regardless of their religious, social or economic backgrounds in 2009.

In all, 163 Catholic Charities agencies, provided an array of vital community-based services 14,975,726 times. This brief report details a 7.5% increase in services in 2009 and disturbing trends of the last few years.

Catholic Charities USA's organizational code of ethics is a vehicle for reflection in light of the principles and values of the Church in the Modern World. This revised Code of Ethics was adopted by Catholic Charities USA's Board of Trustees on September 12, 2007, and is available for adoption and implementation by all member agencies.
