The Campaign to Reduce Poverty in America

In 2007, Catholic Charities USA launched a national campaign to reduce poverty by 50 percent by the year 2020. More information about the multi-year, multi-faceted campaign including toolkits, resources, publications, and opportunities to get involved is available on the Poverty Campaign Web site.

Catholic Charities USA staff represent the Catholic Charities network on a national and international level by participating as members, board members, and liasions with various organizations including:

America's Promise Alliance
Building on the legacy of its founder, General Colin Powell, the America's Promise Alliance is a strong and effective partnership alliance committed to seeing that children experience the fundamental resources they need to succeed – the Five Promises (caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education and opportunities to help others) – at home, in school and out in the community.

Caritas Internationalis
Caritas provides assistance to the most vulnerable on behalf of Catholics around the world.

Catholic Relief Services
Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the U.S. Catholic community. CRS alleviates suffering and provides assistance to people in need in more than 100 countries, without regard to race, religion or nationality.

Independent Sector
Independent Sector is the leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world.

Ladies of Charity 
Ladies of Charity provides personal service to the poor, especially the ill, the underprivileged, the handicapped, the children, the elderly, the distressed and the lonely.

Leadership 18
Leadership 18 provides a forum for a select group of the largest human development non-profit CEOs to improve strategic leadership and inspire collective action to improve people’s lives and the conditions in which they live.

National Human Services Assembly
The National Assembly is a coalition of leading national nonprofit agencies committed to helping individuals, families and communities thrive.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul 
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering.

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
The Conference unifies, coordinates, encourages, promotes and carries on Catholic activities in the United States.

United Way
The United Way works to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health.
